DR.K.SHAMSUNDAR,1979 Batch,Speaks

“MY SAY “ on MCE.

I am Dr.K.Shamasundar and my say on MCE straight from the heart.

Before I iterate few lines let me bow my head down and convey, whole hearted thanks and saksha danda pranamas t0 this great institution and to the whole set of faculties who have made me as an engineer and deliver it to the society.

I chant the lines “guru brahmha gurur Vishnu guru devo namaha, guru sakshat para brhama tasmayshre guru ve namaha”

If at all the society says that I am successful industrialist, businessman, and a doctorate in foundry with abundant experience, I personally leave all credit to this great institution which has made me what I am today and producing countless quality engineers every year to this great universe with its dedicated faculties from its manufacturing bay.

“hats off and kudos”

We have spent five years of our prime teen age in this institution in becoming engineers in the  campus which always remains as legendary sweet memories till ones last breath.

 This institution has everything,

Ambient, facilities, infrastructure, faculties to the fullest extent and what are required to make a best engineer is there.

I am a mechanical engineer have put forth 5 years in mechanical department studying mechanical engineering and the mechanical sector is the best among many other colleges. it has the best lab, work shop, best for mechanical department apart from best drawing rooms and giving always a room for scope.

Need of the day is to meet contemporary requirements.

 Few tips and suggestions:

 1.       Create a cell for improvement and induct few successful best alumini and take their help and project students to practical visits and job work frequently.

2.       Lecturing may be thro “e-sector” with power points and more of videos, required facilities may b provided to the faculties.

3.       A good auditorium, conference hall and a good lecture hall with modern ambient touch brings lot of difference.

4.       To bring uniqueness in the mechanical department among others bring badge, tag or a band what I have seen in  Italy while doing ph d, to the students like we have khaki for workshop.

5.       Make best deliver the best and stand fore front in the line.

A few words about the college by Shri K V Tirumala:

Malnad College of Engineering has well qualified faculty, especially within the Mech. Engineering Department. Most of my batch mates are doing extremely well in industry, academia and even in their own ventures.

The support given by the faculty during the engineering course and the excellent facilities in the college made us fundamentally sound and prepared us for a successful career.

I always found the faculty to be good mentors for both the academic and non-academic guidance that I required during my engineering days and early career. They were always encouraging of the tough targets that I set for myself and I find myself ever grateful for their unflinching support of me through challenging times.

 Advice to students:

While we endeavor to score high grades, we must be mindful of adding value to ourselves in terms of knowledge, skills and current trends. It is essential to broaden our knowledge beyond the scope of the curriculum in order to remain relevant to the contemporary industry context. We should also strive to build strong fundamentals in whichever field we choose.

A few words about the college by Dr. J. M. MALLIKARJUNA:

I, Dr. J. M. Mallikarjuna, presently working as a Faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, take a lot of pride in writing my views about MCE, Hassan. I graduated in BE (Mech.,) from this esteemed Institution in the year 1986. For me, MCE is like a temple where my life took a crucial shape. After my graduation, even I worked there as a faculty for about 12 years. During this tenure, I was fortunate enough to do my post-graduation and Ph.D. I really enjoyed the place in Hassan, the institution in MCE and the teachers in the faculty of MCE. Indeed, I can proudly and boldly tell anyone that the role MCE is huge in my life to reach the level of IIT from a small village as an average student. On this occasion, I want to thank all my teachers of MCE who moulded and helped me during my under graduation. I also would like to wish the MCE to achieve many more milestones in the future and discriminate technical education to the society, especially in places like Hassan.

“MY SAY”About MCE:

I am proud to be alumni of MCE Hassan.

While looking back the path traversed from my student days in MCE, I am indebted to my Alma mater for moulding me into a person I am today and for my achievements as an entrepreneur which was not possible but for the knowledge & values imparted by the faculties of this prestigious institution.

My special thanks goesto Mathematics ProfessorsDr. Manjunathiah& Dr.Khaleelulla who by their way of teaching made an average mathematics student like me to score centum in almost all semester mathematics examinations. I will fail in my duties if I do not remember to thank professors of mechanical engineering department-H.O.D Shri. Narayan, Late Shri. Sheriffudin, Shriyuths Surya Prabha, Rajashekar, Gonsalves, Girish,Shadakshari and ofcourse the dynamic principal Shri. D.K. SathyanarayanSetty. An average IQ student like mewho scored just 60% in PUC Examination was able to pass B.E with flying colors by securing VII rank in the final year B.E exams of Mysore University in the year 1980 that too without failing even in single subject through-out the Five Years(10semester) course comprising all of 76 papers. All the credit goes to above named stalwarts and other equally good faculties whose names I fail to re-call, for turning a raw-stone into shining diamond.

I understand institute has made quantum jump by becoming autonomous.  I am pleased to know that since 35 years of my graduation, institution has made tremendous progress by adding many more departments, labs, hostels etc.

I only wish they make all the courses job oriented rather than marks/grade oriented. Students should be tutored in such a way that they can be directly recruited for industry specific jobs rather than undergoing training in the initial years of career. May be the institute can tie-up with well known industries for imparting practical industry specific knowledge to students so that it becomes easier for the students to understand the subject easily.

Since I have not visited the campus off late, I do not have much to say on the improvement of facilities.Lastbut not the least I hope food quality in the hostel & canteen has improved in tune with the present trend compared to what it was during 1975-80. I am sure everyone agrees with me when I say quality of the food consumed by students, plays a vital role in shaping students physical & mental health. The only reason why we were rushing back to hometown was for good food which was scarce in the campus during those days.

I wish my Alma-Mater-Malnad College of Engineering all the success in all their future endeavors.

Few words about College and Department

The best Place to Study! My MCE College...Royal Mech!!

MCE college life was awesome.  Lived the most memorable phase of my life here as an UG student in Mechanical  Department. It has a great culture! Infrastructure is quite good. Best thing about our MCE   is the cool atmosphere (fresh environment with many trees). My professors were great especially mechanical department professors were excellent   and also quality of educationis good.

It is also best college for those students who do not want to spend a lot of money for engineering!(Helpful for students from middle class)

College library including our mechanical department library was a genuine one incorporating all essential books we want.

Good Mechanical labs and workshop facility, friendly instructors.Good opportunities in extracurricularfields (Personally utilised a lot! Thanks to the all wonderful clubs in the college for taking extra efforts to keep good culture in the campus).

Few suggestions are need to modernize college infrastructure, provide internship or research opportunities, includes automated modern machineries in the workshop. Need strong attention of all professors as well as administrations to improve core branches placement.

All the best MCE..!

Achievements by Krishnamurthy K.S.

Received ‘Best and quick learner award and also star performer awards' in last 1.5 years of work experience.
